Church Connects with Community with Hot Dogs, Candy & Prayer

This report was passed onto LINC Houston via Perla Gil de Rodriguez from one of our mission churches - Comunidad de Gracia in Southeast Houston:

Children and parents line up for hot dogs on Reformation Day at CDGWhile people across Houston celebrated ghosts, goblins, scares and fright nights LINC mission church Comunidad de Gracia (CDG) celebrated Reformation Day with hot dogs, treats and a petition for the community surrounding the congregation.

CDG had their annual Reformation Celebration on Monday October 31st in honor of the 454th anniversary of Martin Luther’s posting of the 95 theses.  CDG shared the Gospel message with the community by handing out tracts, invitations to our church services, prayer with individuals and a healthy dose of smiles and hugs.

Chili dogs, drinks and lots of candy where given out to the community.

CDG also had a prayer station set-up where disciples at CDG prayed for people’s needs as they came by for a hot dog or some candy. The event was a great opportunity to connect with the community on an evening filled with joy.

At the prayer station CDG disciples had the privilege to pray for a little girl suffering from lead poisoning, a mom who has a pregnant 17 yr old daughter, a teenage girl with a broken leg, a young lady with a Child Protection Services case, a family who fosters an abandoned baby girl many more community members with pressing needs.

CDG youth and parents worked together to serve between 250 – 300 people at the Reformation Day event and everyone is already planning next year’s celebration.
