Workshop Provides Bridge to Home Ownership

Buying your first home can be an overwhelming ordeal, particularly in a city as large and diverse as Houston. There are so many things to know beforehand, figure out and prepare. While buying a home is full of promise, there are plenty of pitfalls that keep many from moving into the home they've always dreamed about.

To help first-time homebuyers LINC Houston is putting on Homebuyer's Workshops through our new Affordable Housing Development Program. The first event was held Saturday March 10.

While the weather kept many away, 14 clients came to learn more about pre-purchasing homes. LINC's housing counselor and Housing Program Manager, Dorothy Martin, is currentlly in the process of reviewing these files and preparing individuals for the next step.

"Hopefully for these folks," said Martin, "the next step will be buying, or leasing with the option to own, their very first home!"

LINC takes pride in helping single families, extended families, individuals and couples find their first home and settle into one of Houston's beautiful communities. It is our hope to provide a pathway, a bridge, for first-time homebuyers to walk across to their first home purchase.

More workshops are planned for April, May and June. When these dates and locations are confirmed LINC will publish them on their website and via social media outlets.
