A group of college students from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin, TX is participating in a service trip through LINC Houston.
They arrived Friday night, and went to work right away on the home of Lorena, a single mom who needed help with home repairs.
The group has been trying for a few years to organize a trip, and this time it worked out thanks to the help of LINC Houston who put them in touch with Lorena.
They were looking to help a woman in need since their woman's church group donated most of the money for the service trip.
When they got to Lorena's they knew there was more work that needed to be done, than just what they originally planned.
They got to work right away on installing new windows, since the old ones were not in good condition.
They also decided to help paint the interior of the home.
The students say they are learning a lot, since most of them have never installed windows before.
They say it's just an overwhelming experience to be able to serve this woman and her children. They hope to be able to collect more donations in order to give the family a new sink, and have it installed.
They will head home after the work is complete. They say they are so happy they were able to help out and serve God's people.
